Murlough Nature Reservoir

Murlough Beach is a Blue Flag beach which comprises a wide flat sandy beach with a 2 m wide pebble ridge above high water mark. Murlough Beach is backed by an ancient sand dune system throughout its 6 km length. A large area of the dunes is designated as a National Nature Reserve.

Mourne Mountains

The Mournes have been voted one of Ireland’s favourite walking destinations and it’s easy to see why. The network of paths and tracks that cross over this mountain range are not all for the faint-hearted, but the views of the valleys, lakes, rivers and reservoirs make it well worth the climb.

Tollymore Forest Park

Tollymore Forest Park has panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the sea at Newcastle. It's open to the public all year.  Covering an area of almost 630 hectares at the foot of the Mourne mountains. Tollymore Forest was the first state forest park in Northern Ireland. The forest appeared in the first season of Game of Thrones as the lands around Winterfell when Ned Stark comes across the orphaned direwolves—the symbol of House Stark—and finds there are as many pups as there are Stark children.
